The Trou de Fer is aptly named, this colossal geological depression comes from the massif of Piton des Neiges. Its chasm is nearly 300 m deep. Many rivers flow into this gaping hole and form a series of vertiginous falls, which crash into a crash. For a long time, Creole legends said that the place was cursed. Its access was always difficult. Few expeditions have managed to explore the depths of the hole.

If Reunion Island has countless spectacular natural sites, many locals claim that the Trou de Fer is, along with the volcano, the most impressive place on the island. When you discover it, either by helicopter or after a long hike, words fail ... It is the highest waterfall in France and one of the highest in the world.
